Financial Controller

About the role

Hard Rock Hotel Malta, a hospitality and leisure brand within db Group, is looking for a Financial Controller to join its finance team. You will support decision-making, ensure financial compliance and lead your team in delivering accurate, timely financial reporting across the group's hotels, restaurants and retail operations, working closely with department heads, senior management and the Group CFO.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts to support performance reviews.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasting.
• Develop cash flow statements and financial reports as required.
• Submit timely and accurate VAT returns.
• Carry out financial analysis for new and ongoing business opportunities.
• Oversee and strengthen internal financial control processes.
• Act as primary contact for external auditors during statutory audits.
• Monitor debtors and credit control procedures, reporting regularly to the Group CFO.
• Supervise accounts staff on daily cash settlements and receivables.
• Ensure compliance with group policies, accounting standards and fiscal regulations.
• Propose and implement finance policies and process improvements, and mentor the finance team.

Required profile

• ACCA qualification or equivalent (mandatory).
• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in hospitality or multi-entity operations.
• Knowledge of EU financial regulations; knowledge of Maltese compliance requirements preferred.
• Strong leadership, analytical and communication skills, with a high level of accuracy, organisation and initiative.

Required skills

• Excellent command of Excel, Word and other MS Office tools.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (an asset).
