Mechanical Engineer (Malta)

About the role

QP designs, engineers and manages the built environment and is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Malta. The engineer designs, coordinates, supervises and certifies mechanical building services systems from concept through to construction, working with multidisciplinary teams, contractors and clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and supervise the installation of mechanical services (HVAC, water supply, sanitation, public health, fire protection and safety systems) in new and existing buildings.
• Lead M&E project assignments from concept and detailed design through construction supervision and commissioning.
• Coordinate mechanical design with Architecture, Interior Design, Civil, Structural and Electrical disciplines.
• Develop and manage new technologies and systems that integrate with existing infrastructure.
• Monitor and maintain building systems, specify maintenance procedures and manage replacement of expired equipment.
• Witness testing and commissioning, and assist with payment applications, variations and claims.
• Inspect project sites, ensure as-built documentation is provided and maintain project Quality Assurance.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, with chartership (CEng, MCIBSE or equivalent) or working towards it.
• Minimum 8 years of experience delivering mechanical and building services design on complex, multi-sector projects (residential, commercial, hospitality, infrastructure).
• Proven ability to lead building services commissions, manage design coordination, scope control, contractor interfaces and project budgets.
• Experience in site supervision, witnessing testing and commissioning.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, water distribution, drainage, fire protection, sanitation and public health engineering.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of BIM tools such as Revit and engineering analysis software such as HAP or IES is highly desirable.
