Auditor – External Audit

About the role

BDO Malta is seeking a motivated Auditor to join its External Audit team in Msida. You will work under the supervision of senior staff, contributing to audit engagements for a diverse portfolio of local and international clients. This role offers the chance to develop technical audit skills while gaining exposure to regulatory and tax matters.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare audit reports, documentation and correspondence under supervision.
• Stay up‑to‑date with the latest accounting and auditing developments.
• Consult with senior staff on identified issues and conduct related research.
• Identify statutory and regulatory changes affecting clients.
• Review management letter points from junior staff and draft audit letters.
• Assist junior team members in understanding audit methodology.
• Maintain a basic understanding of tax issues and their client impact.
• Establish close working relationships with clients and develop audit plans and timetables.
• Monitor performance against time allocations and report any difficulties.
• Produce a near‑complete audit deliverable, highlighting outstanding items for clearance meetings.
• Handle multiple small assignments simultaneously and draft audit planning briefs.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience in external audit within a professional services firm.
• ACCA qualified, equivalent, or actively pursuing the qualification.
• Hard‑working, ambitious and eager to learn.
