Senior Accountant

About the role

Andaria is looking for a Senior Accountant in Malta to help deliver its accounting, safeguarding reconciliation and regulatory reporting requirements, and to support ad-hoc UK tasks as needed. The role sits within a rapidly growing business.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and other ancillary reports
• Keep up to date with evolving financial and regulatory reporting requirements and help implement changes so reporting stays compliant and accurate
• Help with year-end reporting, including the Annual Report and audit queries
• Compile and submit regulatory reporting to the MFSA, Central Bank of Malta and other regulators (BR06, FIR, CESOP, CMPSS), and reply promptly to regulator queries
• Assist in automating reporting and other data-driven projects
• Carry out general accounting duties
• Review daily financial operations, such as daily reconciliation of safeguarded client funds, bank and partner reconciliations and treasury balance management
• Support the annual safeguarding audit and tax, VAT and payroll matters
• Carry out other ad-hoc finance tasks, including supporting other functions in compiling and analysing finance data

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant with a Malta warrant or eligibility for one
• At least 4 years of post-qualification experience, including 2 or more years in a payments, e-money, banking or fintech environment, or in audit of such firms
• Working knowledge of MFSA prudential reporting for payment or e-money institutions, including own funds calculations
• Fluent written and spoken English

Required skills

• Strong IFRS knowledge and experience preparing statutory financial statements
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with cloud ERP systems
• Attention to detail, good judgement on escalation and ability to meet hard regulatory deadlines
• Desirable: card issuing/acquiring or scheme settlement experience, and experience implementing reconciliation automation or BI tools such as Power BI
