Project Manager

About the role

Baxter is seeking a Project Manager to lead strategic and technical engineering projects that impact product design, material changes, and cost optimization across EMEA and APAC manufacturing sites. The role is based in Malta and involves guiding cross‑functional teams from opportunity identification through implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and influence cross‑functional teams across multiple locations without direct authority to achieve project goals.
• Collaborate with technical teams to define milestones, manage risks, and ensure launch‑date commitments.
• Identify and evaluate cost‑optimization opportunities in materials, components, and processes, focusing on insourcing, alternate sourcing, and value engineering.
• Develop and maintain accurate project schedules and drive execution with core and support teams.
• Support change‑control, validation activities, and implementation planning.
• Partner with Procurement, R&D, Quality, Operations, and Suppliers to implement cost‑optimization while maintaining compliance and supply continuity.
• Communicate project risks, develop mitigation plans, and lead proactive risk response strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field (Mechanical, Materials, Plastics, Chemicals, Packaging, Manufacturing or related).
• Experience in medical device, MedTech or pharmaceutical industry is a strong asset.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a matrix organization.
• Willingness to travel internationally (~10% of the time).
