PHP Developer

About the role

We are looking for a skilled PHP Developer to join our backend team. You will work on designing, building and optimising web applications using modern PHP and complementary technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimise backend applications using PHP (7/8.1) and Node.js.
• Write clean, efficient and testable code while adhering to established development standards.
• Analyse business requirements and enhance existing applications by identifying improvement opportunities.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve application defects, managing issues through the defect‑tracking system.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications and test plans.
• Monitor system performance and provide ongoing technical support.
• Research and implement new technologies to improve performance and scalability.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS or a related discipline, or equivalent commercial experience.
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service abilities.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and flexible approach to work.
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in PHP (7/8.1) with commercial backend development experience.
• Knowledge of Node.js (desirable).
• Experience with Symfony 4/5 and Doctrine ORM.
• Working knowledge of Vue.js.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
• Familiarity with messaging technologies such as RabbitMQ and Redis.
• Experience using Git for version control.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented programming, n‑tier architecture, SDLC and Agile methodologies.
