Finance Operations Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Operations Accountant to join Syspay Limited’s Operational Finance team. The role sits at the intersection of accounting and payment operations, supporting daily financial lifecycles of our e‑money and payment gateway services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily reconciliations of transactions across the Syspay platform, corporate bank accounts, payment gateways and merchant payouts, applying operational adjustments such as reserves, refunds and chargebacks.
• Monitor safeguarding accounts to ensure full protection of client funds and investigate settlement delays, unallocated funds and mismatches.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities, focusing on operational revenue, processing costs and client liabilities, and maintain schedules for accrued income and deferred expenses.
• Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to manage holds on flagged accounts and resolve disputes.
• Support regulatory and tax reporting, including MFSA supervision filings and VAT/TAX return preparation.
• Act as liaison for external auditors and financial institutions during statutory audits.
• Produce operational finance dashboards, identify workflow bottlenecks and work with Tech and Product teams to automate data flows.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc projects and general company administration.

Required profile

• Recent graduate with a degree in finance, accounting or a related field.
• Highly motivated, detail‑oriented and analytical.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑growth FinTech environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross‑functional teams.
