Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Building Services

About the role

Mekanika is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join its Engineering team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will support the design, costing, commissioning and maintenance of HVAC and other mechanical building services across a range of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quantity take‑offs and cost estimates for labour, materials and equipment during tendering and execution phases.
• Assist in preparing tenders, budgets, procurement plans, engineering documentation, drawings and technical submittals.
• Conduct site surveys for prospective and ongoing projects.
• Design, cost, commission and support HVAC and other mechanical systems.
• Source local and international suppliers to ensure cost‑effective procurement.
• Provide technical advice on installation, operation and maintenance of mechanical systems.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and coordinate procurement requirements.
• Monitor site progress, conduct visits and report on project status and material usage.
• Liaise with the Construction Office on drawing and specification amendments.
• Support site teams during installation, testing and commissioning.
• Assist in training draughtspersons and technicians and contribute to recruitment and development activities.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification at MQF Level 6 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
• Strong technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services.
• Organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
• Self‑motivated, proactive and capable of working independently.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other engineering design software (preferred).
