Accountant – Malta Finance Team

About the role

The Accountant will join the growing Malta Finance team and report to the Head of Finance. The position supports day‑to‑day finance activities for the Group’s Malta‑regulated entities, including an Electronic Money Institution and a MiFID investment firm.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and execute month‑end and year‑end close activities, including journals, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Own balance‑sheet reconciliations, maintain supporting records and resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Produce variance analysis and financial schedules for management, boards and Group Finance.
• Prepare regulatory, prudential and statistical reporting schedules for the Malta Financial Services Authority, the Central Bank of Malta and other authorities.
• Maintain reconciliations and evidence for EMI and MiFID reporting, escalating material discrepancies.
• Perform routine reconciliations of bank, payment‑institution and broker balances; monitor cash‑flow and short‑term liquidity.
• Review and post supplier invoices, manage payment schedules, and support employee expenses and payroll‑related postings.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions, recharges and cost allocations.
• Support audits, statutory accounts, VAT and corporate‑tax work by preparing schedules and evidence.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, management information and continuous improvement of finance processes.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in financial services accounting and reporting.
• Sound judgement and the ability to work independently while collaborating in a small, dynamic team.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet tight regulatory deadlines.
