Waste Management Lead

About the role

Explora Journeys is seeking a Waste Management Lead to oversee the waste management facility on its luxury cruise ships. The role ensures all waste handling, treatment, and disposal activities comply with company policies and environmental regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise waste management operations and report equipment malfunctions to the Environmental Compliance Officer.
• Lead and coordinate Waste Management Staff according to directives from the Environmental Compliance Officer.
• Operate waste treatment equipment in the Recycling Center and manage waste segregation, handling, and storage.
• Conduct waste offloading operations and, when authorized, oversee sea discharge of comminuted food waste in compliance with regulations.
• Recover and store incinerator ash and ensure all activities meet Environmental, Health and Safety requirements.

Required profile

• Proficient in English (additional European languages are a plus).
• Full compliance with Flag State safety, health, and physical requirements.
• Documentation in accordance with STCW 95 standards.

Required skills

• Operation of waste treatment equipment.
• Waste segregation, handling and storage procedures.
• Incinerator ash recovery and storage.
