Systems Engineer - Technology Consulting

About the role

EY Malta is looking for skilled, motivated and proactive Systems Engineers to join its Technology Consulting team. You will work closely with clients and multidisciplinary project teams to design, implement, optimise and support secure, scalable and reliable technology infrastructure and application platform solutions across a range of industries. The role covers cloud, hybrid and on-premises technologies, virtualisation, containers, automation and application platform support.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure and support secure, scalable infrastructure and application platform solutions in client environments.
• Assess and optimise infrastructure performance, availability, resilience and scalability, recommending improvements.
• Design and implement cloud, hybrid and on-premises solutions, including virtualised and containerised environments.
• Implement identity and access management solutions.
• Maintain and troubleshoot environments, middleware and application services.
• Implement automation through Infrastructure-as-Code and support CI/CD pipelines, environment configuration and application deployments.
• Design and implement monitoring, logging, patching, endpoint management, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
• Deliver infrastructure deployments, migrations, upgrades and configuration changes as part of project delivery and support engagements.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues, perform root-cause analysis and escalate where necessary.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans and operational materials.
• Collaborate with clients, vendors, project managers and technical teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer and support to clients and internal teams, and stay informed on emerging technologies.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Engineer, Systems Administrator or in a similar technology role.
• Experience designing, implementing and supporting cloud, hybrid and on-premises infrastructure solutions.
• Experience with infrastructure migrations, upgrades, deployments and system modernisation.
• Sound understanding of networking and security concepts.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently across concurrent projects and client engagements.

• Nice to have: Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, PowerShell, Terraform, Bicep, Elasticsearch, Apache Kafka, Apache Tomcat, and exposure to regulated industries such as financial services, gaming, healthcare or the public sector.

The position requires the candidate to work onsite at the office in Msida.
