Senior VAT Associate

About the role

BDO Malta is seeking a Senior VAT Associate to join its Tax department in Msida. You will work closely with clients, providing VAT compliance, advisory, and audit support while developing your technical expertise within a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and submit VAT returns for a portfolio of clients.
• Prepare and review VAT recap statements.
• Assist clients with VAT registrations, de‑registrations and ongoing statutory requirements.
• Support planning and estimation of VAT work, including complex client engagements.
• Advise clients on Maltese VAT implications and recent developments.
• Assist with VAT audits, queries, investigations and liaise with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration.
• Participate in due‑diligence assignments related to VAT matters.
• Contribute to the development of new VAT work and prepare publications.

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant VAT experience.
• Master’s in Accountancy or fully ACCA‑qualified (or in the final stage of qualification).
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and assertiveness.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Self‑motivated, willing to learn and able to meet strict deadlines.
• Fluent in English.
