Senior Java Developer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join Etpa’s technology team in Malta. You will work within the Trader Tech Team, developing and enhancing our electricity trading platform that supports spot‑trading, congestion management and day‑after trading across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and improve components of Etpa’s electricity trading systems.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners and market experts to implement new features.
• Write high‑quality code, perform testing, conduct code reviews and follow engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues together with the wider engineering team.
• Mentor junior and medior colleagues and help shape technical solutions for new functionality.
• Contribute to system performance, scalability and reliability improvements.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience as a software developer.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring framework.
• Experience designing and building secure RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks such as JUnit, MockK and Cucumber.
• Comfortable with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Fluent English and ability to work in an international, fast‑paced environment.
• Valid work permit for the European Union and ability to work onsite in Malta.
