Junior Associate – Legal & Compliance

About the role

Elmo Insurance, linked to global and financially strong reinsurers, is recruiting a motivated and detail-oriented lawyer for its Legal & Compliance function in Ta' Xbiex. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Legal & Compliance, the role provides day-to-day legal support to departments across the company and helps with legal, data protection and compliance matters. It suits a warranted lawyer wanting to broaden their experience in an in-house setting.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal support and advice to departments across the company
• Draft, review and help negotiate contracts, agreements and other legal documents
• Carry out legal research and assist with legal opinions and correspondence
• Support compliance with GDPR and data protection legislation, including data protection requests and privacy policies
• Support the Compliance function on regulatory matters, policies and procedures
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments and liaise with external legal advisers when needed

Required profile

• Degree in Law and a valid Maltese warrant to practise as a lawyer
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Maltese
• Attention to detail, discretion and professionalism
• Proactive, flexible and willing to learn, able to work in a team
• Previous experience in insurance, data protection or compliance is an asset but not essential
