Java Backend Developer – Hybrid in Malta

About the role

We are looking for a Java Backend Developer to join a fast‑growing tech company in Malta. You will work on high‑volume, real‑time systems, taking ownership of features from design to production while collaborating with a skilled engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve platform performance.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery.
• Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Build internal tools and support high‑availability infrastructure.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in backend development with Java.
• Hands‑on experience with Spring Boot framework.
• Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Ability to work autonomously in a hybrid environment.
