Senior Plant Technician – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Plant Technician to take a lead technical role within our Maintenance/Engineering team. The successful candidate will oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of the hotel's plant and mechanical systems, providing hands‑on technical expertise while guiding junior technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain plant room equipment such as boilers, chillers, pumps, HVAC systems and water‑treatment plant.
• Plan and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical and electromechanical plant equipment.
• Diagnose complex faults and lead repairs to minimise downtime and disruption.
• Oversee the pool plant, water systems and related filtration/pumping equipment, ensuring health‑and‑safety compliance.
• Guide, train and supervise junior plant technicians, allocating tasks and reviewing work quality.
• Maintain accurate logs of plant readings, maintenance activities and irregularities, reporting performance to management.
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations and lead risk assessments.
• Act as first point of escalation for plant‑related breakdowns or emergencies, including on‑call shift cover.
• Liaise with external contractors, suppliers and regulatory bodies for specialised servicing, repairs or inspections.
• Support budgeting and planning for plant maintenance, upgrades and capital projects.

Required profile

• Several years of proven experience as a Plant Technician or similar role, preferably in a hotel, resort or large commercial facility.
• Prior experience in a senior, lead or supervisory capacity.
• Strong technical expertise in mechanical/electromechanical plant systems.
• Relevant technical qualification (mechanical, electrical or building services).
• Excellent fault‑finding, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Solid understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead, train and motivate a team.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and be available for emergency call‑outs.
• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
