Payments Reconciliation & Controls Manager

About the role

The Reconciliation & Controls Manager leads the team responsible for daily and month‑end reconciliation of PSP transactions, balances and settlements. You will ensure high‑volume payment data is complete, accurate and properly supported, while investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily and month‑end reconciliation across PSPs, banks and internal systems, focusing on completeness, accuracy and timely exception resolution.
• Lead investigations into missing, duplicate, timing and settlement differences, quantify impact and drive resolution.
• Oversee reconciliation of PSP settlements to bank receipts and work closely with Treasury on cash‑related discrepancies.
• Ensure PSP balances, fees, accruals and adjustments are correctly reflected in month‑end accounting.
• Partner with Payment Product on transaction issues, data gaps and process changes.
• Design and improve reconciliation processes, controls and automation tools.
• Lead, coach and develop the reconciliation team, setting priorities and ensuring coverage of critical activities.

Required profile

• Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Data Science or part‑qualified ACCA/ACA.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in payment provider reconciliations, including managerial experience.
• Strong understanding of balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals, journal preparation and month‑end financial controls.
• Analytical and investigative mindset with ability to work with large data sets.
