Legal Counsel (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join our growing legal team within a leading financial services organisation. The role offers a hybrid working model, allowing you to combine office presence with remote work while providing legal support across a broad range of banking and commercial matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support to internal stakeholders across the business.
• Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and legal documentation.
• Advise on banking, financial services and corporate legal matters.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
• Support new products, projects and strategic initiatives from a legal perspective.
• Liaise with external legal advisers and regulatory authorities when required.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.
• Assist with governance matters, legal risk management and internal policy reviews.
• Provide practical, commercial legal guidance to support business objectives.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer holding a valid Maltese Advocate Warrant.
• Previous experience in banking, financial services or another regulated industry.
• Strong knowledge of Maltese and EU legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Fluency in English; Maltese is a strong advantage.
