IFRS Specialist

About the role

EY Malta is looking for an experienced IFRS Specialist to lead and expand its Financial Accounting Advisory services. This senior position will act as the primary IFRS authority, supporting audit teams, advising clients on complex transactions, and shaping thought leadership in the Maltese market.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for IFRS and financial reporting advisory services.
• Provide technical advice on complex IFRS matters, including restructurings, acquisitions, and capital market activities.
• Support audit teams with significant accounting judgments and financial reporting issues.
• Review technical accounting papers and financial statements for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor IFRS developments and communicate implications to clients.
• Deliver IFRS training and thought‑leadership sessions to clients and EY professionals.
• Develop market relationships and position EY Malta as a leading IFRS advisory provider.
• Identify and lead business‑development opportunities within accounting advisory.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 8‑10+ years of relevant experience with substantial IFRS technical advisory exposure.
• Proven ability to advise on complex accounting issues and major business transactions.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working directly with senior finance leaders, boards and regulators.
• Excellent written and verbal English proficiency.
