Software Engineer – Enterprise Applications

About the role

The Software Engineer joins the Transformation Initiatives function and the Credit & Workflow / CRM function, reporting to a Team Leader. The role covers developing, testing and maintaining software applications, implementing features, fixing bugs and taking part in code reviews, while collaborating with cross-functional teams on project planning and estimation.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in designing and architecting software projects, considering scalability, performance and maintainability.
• Support maintenance of in-house developments and liaise with vendors or suppliers when needed.
• Handle technical issues, incidents and defects, carry out root cause analysis and provide sustainable solutions.
• Mentor colleagues by sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams and follow the department's software development lifecycle.
• Support the IT delivery of large-scale, critical projects from planning through deployment.
• Communicate with stakeholders and present technical solutions to support decisions.

Required profile

• Three years' proven software engineering experience plus an MQF Level 5 award in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, OR four years' experience, OR one year of experience plus an MQF Level 6 degree in a related field.
• Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including on-call duties.
• Desirable: software development certifications.
• Bank minimum eligibility: four O'Levels at Grade 5/C or higher including English, unless an MQF Level 6 degree or higher is held.
