Shipboard Fitter Mechanic

About the role

As a Shipboard Fitter Mechanic you will join the technical team on a cruise vessel, ensuring that all mechanical equipment operates safely and efficiently. You will work closely with the Engine Department to minimise downtime and maintain the ship’s mechanical integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding, repairs and maintenance on shipboard machinery and structural components.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and ensure availability for scheduled and urgent maintenance tasks.
• Execute preventive maintenance procedures in line with maritime safety standards.
• Collaborate with the Engine Department to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a fitter mechanic in the maritime industry, preferably on a cruise ship.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, welding techniques and repair methodologies.
• Familiarity with international maritime safety protocols and maintenance standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced onboard team.
• Relevant technical qualification in mechanical fitting, marine engineering or a related field.
