Ship Carpenter – Guest & Crew Areas

About the role

The Ship Carpenter ensures that all guest and crew areas on board are maintained to the highest standards. You will be responsible for the upkeep, repair and installation of furniture, fittings and fire‑screen doors across the vessel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs of furniture in guest cabins, crew accommodations, public venues, bars, theatres, lounges and restaurants.
• Install, service and maintain passive fire‑screen doors and other safety structures.
• Provide accurate quantities and specifications for materials required for each maintenance task.
• Collaborate closely with the Head of Department to plan and prioritize work.
• Maintain detailed records in compliance with STCW‑95 documentation requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years professional experience as a skilled carpenter.
• Fluent reading, speaking and writing in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong basic mathematics skills for calculating proportions, ratios and measurements.
• Knowledge of carpentry materials, tools and construction/repair methods.
• Attention to detail, practical problem‑solving ability and flexibility to work in a multicultural environment.
• Familiarity with carpeting and deck‑covering installation.
• Compliance with flag‑state safety, health and physical requirements.
