Senior Software Engineer – Backend .NET

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a leading iGaming company in Malta. The position is hybrid, requiring three days per week on‑site, and focuses on building high‑performance backend services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using C# and .NET Core 8 with an emphasis on performance, scalability, and clean architecture.
• Build and integrate messaging systems and background services to enable reliable, event‑driven communication across distributed components.
• Write and optimise MS SQL queries, indexes, and performance‑critical operations for high‑volume environments.
• Participate in architectural discussions, technical design sessions, and product brainstorming to shape the platform’s future.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices, including coding standards, testing, CI/CD pipelines, and system design.
• Continuously explore emerging technologies and tools to improve engineering capabilities.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced, knowledge‑sharing culture.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on backend software development experience.
• Strong grasp of software engineering principles, API design, REST, asynchronous processing, and distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Accountable, ownership‑driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Collaborative spirit and willingness to contribute to a positive engineering culture.
