Senior Environment Concept Artist - New IP

About the role

A studio behind the Metro series is looking for a Senior Environment Concept Artist to help define and shape the visual style of a new AAA game. The artist contributes to the artistic vision by creating high-quality concepts and guiding the visual development of environments, working closely with the Art Director, Creative Lead and Game Designers so the world feels cohesive, believable and visually striking.

Key responsibilities

• Create detailed, production-ready concepts for environments and landscapes.
• Develop key visuals and spectacular artwork for marketing materials and promotional assets.
• Generate strong visual ideas independently and contribute to the broader artistic direction.
• Translate design requirements, narrative context and gameplay needs into compelling visual solutions.
• Sketch, reference, paintover and communicate ideas clearly, then produce publication-ready illustrations.
• Provide paintovers and visual guidance throughout environment development, and play the project to propose improvements.
• Support and mentor other artists by sharing knowledge, feedback and best practices.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional experience creating illustrations and environment concepts for games.
• Strong understanding of mood, lighting, composition, colour theory and visual storytelling, with a good eye for form, shape, structure, proportion and silhouette.
• Experience in realistic or semi-realistic styles, able to depict real-world materials and believable environments.
• Experience as a 2D or 3D artist within a game development pipeline, able to take an idea from early concept to polished illustration.
• English proficiency.
• Preferred: realistic atmospheric style, familiarity with game engines and real-time workflows, FPS passion, visual effects concepts, marketing visuals and screenshot composition.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Photoshop or similar digital painting software.
• Ability to turn creative direction and design requirements into cohesive images.
