R&D Engineer (Early-Career)

About the role

Baxter is looking for an R&D Engineer to join its team in Malta. The role suits an early-career engineer and covers product development, engineering simulations, prototyping and innovation projects in a collaborative R&D environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform standard engineering assignments that form a significant part of larger projects, selecting sound techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations under the supervisor's direction.
• Assess results for application, validity and conformance to specifications, and recommend material and process specifications.
• Use engineering tools such as FMEA, finite element analysis, process modeling, design of experiments, mold flow and SPC to solve straightforward problems.
• Lead small project teams as needed, monitor and report project costs (capital and cross-functional), estimate cost impacts of design or policy changes, and recommend capital expenditure and production methods with the supervisor.
• Study and recommend ways to improve existing products or processes, investigate new sources for raw materials or processes, and help formulate engineering policies and technical work with the supervisor.
• Where applicable, review the quality of work of direct reports, coach and mentor them, and help create and update their development plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree.
• 0-3 years of related engineering experience, including internships, co-op placements or industry experience.
• Field of expertise: mechanical design, product development, simulation, prototyping and engineering analysis.

• Minimum annual salary of EUR 27,200, with possible higher pay depending on skills, experience and other factors.
