Platemaking Prepress Process Operative (2 Shift)

About the role

The Platemaking Prepress Process Operative works in a state‑of‑the‑art platemaking facility for a global leader in banknote printing. The role produces digital and nickel plates for offset and intaglio presses, supports quality control, and contributes to a safe, secure and efficient work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure continuous compliance with Bank of England audit standards and internal platemaking procedures.
• Produce digital plates and nickel plates to the specifications of internal and external DLR customers.
• Carry out quality‑assurance analysis in laboratory facilities to monitor critical platemaking variables.
• Maintain a 5S organisational system and housekeeping to optimise operational efficiency.
• Follow rigorously taught safety, environmental and security procedures.
• Participate in problem‑solving, root‑cause analysis and TPM activities to keep equipment and areas in optimal condition.
• Update and maintain documentation, standard procedures and test‑result charts.

Required profile

• O‑Level standard education or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write technical standard operating procedures and risk assessments.
• Strong eye for detail, quality awareness and HSE/security understanding.
• Capability to manually lift up to 25 kg following HSE best practice.
• Disciplined time‑keeping, good communication and a positive, continuous‑improvement mindset.
• Flexibility to work within a two‑shift pattern and adherence to DLR values.

Required skills

• Microsoft ECDL (basic Office proficiency).
• Use of SPC tools and control plans.
• Reading/writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Conducting risk assessments.
• Laboratory analysis for platemaking variables.
