Legal Counsel – Contract Management & Legal Operations

About the role

Fortytwo is seeking a Legal Counsel to lead contract management and legal operations across its global messaging platform. The role combines commercial legal advice with process improvement, supporting the Head of Legal in delivering efficient, compliant services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full contract lifecycle: creation, review, execution, renewal, termination and record keeping.
• Design, implement and maintain legal standard operating procedures and process documentation.
• Identify and drive efficiency gains through process redesign and automation.
• Maintain contract repositories and enforce governance standards.
• Coordinate legal and regulatory transformation projects across the organisation.
• Research, assess and advise on legal risks linked to business decisions.
• Oversee document execution using electronic signature tools.
• Assist with AML and KYC checks when required.
• Update and maintain internal contract templates.
• Track legal issues and provide proactive solutions.

Required profile

• Law degree from an accredited institution.
• 3‑4 years of experience in a law firm or as in‑house counsel.
• Strong expertise in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Knowledge of commercial law, preferably in telecommunications, e‑commerce, IT or software sectors.
• Legal practising warrant is a plus but not mandatory.
