Lead Technical Artist - New IP

About the role

4A Games is looking for a Lead Technical Artist to make a major contribution to creating lively video game environments. The role combines leadership of a technical art team with hands-on work on technology, assets and content.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize and set objectives for team members throughout the year, give ongoing feedback and communicate clearly within the team.
• Hold team members accountable for their key results and collaborate with team leads to improve art production processes and technologies.
• Balance creative vision with technical budget constraints, flag project risks to management and act as a technical reference for the team.
• Optimize content for memory and performance, help build technology roadmaps and take part in developing and rendering artwork, models, animations and textures when needed.
• Take part in recruitment processes.

Required profile

• At least 6 years of experience in technical art or other relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Art, Design, Technical disciplines or other relevant training.
• Shipped at least one game in a technical art role; full cycle on a AAA console title preferred.
• Excellent time management, prioritization, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluency in English.

Required skills

• Advanced scripting in 3D graphics software such as 3DS Max or Maya (e.g. MaxScript).
• Data management software such as Perforce and knowledge of hardware architectures and GPU-supported compression formats.
• Working knowledge of scripting languages such as MaxScript, Python and C#.
• Knowledge of platform strengths and limitations, multiple art and animation pipelines, and 2D and 3D art.
• Procedural open world content generation; scripting in Python, C++ and simulation of physical, fluid and gas effects are preferred.
