Head of Collections & Recoveries – Credit Cards

About the role

We are seeking a high‑potential, hands‑on leader to become the Head of Collections & Recoveries for our fast‑growing credit‑card business. Based in Malta, you will own the end‑to‑end collections and recoveries process, from early arrears to post‑charge‑off, and have the freedom to redesign how the function operates in a fully digital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the collections strategy across early, mid and late‑stage delinquency, ensuring compliance with EU regulatory standards.
• Take full accountability for portfolio performance metrics such as arrears, roll rates, cure rates and recoveries.
• Design customer‑centric treatment frameworks for forbearance, hardship and vulnerability.
• Lead the collections operating model, coordinating internal teams and third‑party partners.
• Own vendor strategy for external debt collection agencies, including selection and performance management.
• Govern policies, controls and conduct standards to ensure fair customer treatment.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to drive data‑led decision making and continuous optimisation.
• Champion digital automation and emerging technologies to improve efficiency and customer experience.
• Build and develop a high‑performing collections leadership team.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in collections, recoveries or credit risk with leadership responsibility in unsecured retail lending or credit cards.
• Strong working knowledge of EU consumer credit regulation, conduct risk and data privacy requirements.
• Demonstrated ownership of P&L‑level outcomes or material loss budgets.
• Proven experience managing large operational teams and external partners.
• EU passport required.
