Head of Client Accounting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Client Accounting to lead our Client Accounting Department. Reporting directly to a board member, you will ensure the delivery of high‑quality accounting services to a diverse client portfolio while driving operational excellence and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing client accounting team.
• Oversee preparation and review of financial statements, management accounts, VAT returns, tax reporting and regulatory filings.
• Ensure timely, accurate delivery of services in line with Maltese accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, internal controls and automation initiatives.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients and support business development.
• Collaborate with Tax, Corporate Services, Fiduciary and other internal teams to provide integrated solutions.
• Monitor departmental performance, resource allocation, billing, collections and profitability.

Required profile

• ACCA qualification or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior or manager‑level client accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of Maltese accounting standards, income tax, VAT legislation and AML requirements.
• Proven leadership and people‑management experience.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills.

Required skills

• High proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with accounting software.
