Foreman – Engine Department

About the role

Explora Journeys is seeking a world‑class Foreman to support the Staff Chief Engineer and Daily Engineer Officer in the operation and maintenance of the ship’s Engine Department. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all engine‑related work meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Consult daily with the Staff Engineer and Daily Engineer Officer on maintenance methods and procedures.
• Assign and supervise repair and overhaul tasks for engine department personnel.
• Inspect work in progress and upon completion to guarantee compliance with standards and minimise material waste.
• Oversee the safe use of materials, equipment, and personnel.
• Prepare requisitions for stores and spare parts and submit them for approval.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of on‑hand and ordered materials.

Required profile

• Fluent oral and written English (company working language).
• Ability to speak, read, and write another major European language is an advantage.
• Extensive experience in luxury/premium hospitality venues, particularly in dining operations.
• Previous experience in start‑ups or pre‑openings is a plus.
• Strong management, organisational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Full compliance with Flag State safety, health, and physical requirements.
• Documentation in accordance with STCW 95 standards.
