Data Governance Specialist

About the role

EY Malta is looking for a Data Governance Specialist to design and implement enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, and controls. You will work with business and technology teams to ensure data accuracy, consistency, traceability, and compliance with regulatory and business requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support the design and implementation of enterprise-wide data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and controls.
• Define and operationalise governance roles, including data owners, data stewards, and related decision‑making forums.
• Drive improvements in data quality, metadata management, lineage, and issue management processes.
• Embed governance requirements into business processes, platforms, and reporting in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Support regulatory and risk‑related data initiatives by ensuring traceability, accountability, and control over critical data assets.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information systems, data management or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data governance, data management or regulatory data environments.
• Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, operating models and policies.
• Knowledge of data ownership and stewardship models.
• Familiarity with financial services and regulatory environments.
• Ability to translate business requirements into governance controls.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and strong stakeholder management skills.
• Optional certifications such as DAMA CDMP, Collibra or Microsoft data‑governance certifications.
