Chief Carpenter

About the role

Explora Journeys is launching a luxury travel brand and seeks a world‑class Chief Carpenter to oversee the maintenance and repair of all carpentry‑related areas on board. The role ensures guest and crew spaces remain functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing throughout the ship.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair furniture and fittings in guest cabins, crew accommodations, public venues, bars, theatres, lounges, restaurants, and other ship areas.
• Oversee passive fire‑structure components such as fire screen doors.
• Assign tasks, provide on‑the‑job training, and manage a carpentry team.
• Operate the carpenter shop, manage equipment, inventory, and consumables.
• Collaborate with the Hotel Engineer to specify material quantities and specifications.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a skilled carpenter.
• Fluent reading, speaking, and writing in English; additional languages are a plus.
• Strong basic mathematics for proportion and measurement calculations.
• Knowledge of construction materials, tools, and carpentry techniques.
• Attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and flexibility to work in a multicultural environment.
