Assistant Refrigeration Technician

About the role

As an Assistant Refrigeration Technician you support senior technicians in maintaining the ship’s refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for guests and crew.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and service refrigeration units, freezers, chillers and air‑conditioning equipment.
• Perform regular inspections, troubleshoot faults and carry out repairs.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimise downtime.
• Follow safety, environmental and refrigerant handling regulations.
• Document maintenance activities and keep accurate records.

Required profile

• Solid technical background in refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Hands‑on experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining cooling units.
• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the maritime or a demanding environment.
• Relevant certifications in refrigeration/HVAC.
• Fluency in English, both spoken and written.

Required skills

• Knowledge of refrigeration systems, chillers and air‑conditioning units.
• Ability to diagnose issues and perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Understanding of safety regulations, refrigerant handling procedures and environmental standards.
• Team‑oriented mindset and ability to work in a fast‑paced setting.
