Assistant Electrical Fitter

About the role

The Assistant Electrical Fitter supports the 2nd Electro‑Technical Officer in maintaining and repairing electrical systems aboard a luxury cruise vessel. The role involves hands‑on work across engine‑room, hotel, and passenger areas, ensuring all equipment operates safely and reliably.

Key responsibilities

• Consult regularly with the 2nd Electro‑Technical Officer on maintenance methods and procedures.
• Monitor, control and troubleshoot all assigned electrical equipment and machinery.
• Report any damage or malfunction immediately to the 2nd Electro‑Technical Officer.
• Assist with routine maintenance and safety checks on elevators, automatic doors, cabin automation, lighting, power systems, main engines, battery safety systems, waste‑water treatment, and evaporators.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used and test results in the InfoSHIP system.
• Coordinate with the Senior Technical Storekeeper to ensure adequate spare‑part inventory.
• Work closely with the Facility Manager to complete repair orders promptly while prioritising guest comfort.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar role on a luxury or premium cruise ship or related maritime environment.
• Certificate of Competency License III/7 and a high‑school diploma with any required maritime licences.
• Valid passport and seaman’s book.
• Team‑player attitude, proactive mindset and strong communication in English (B1 level).
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Windows‑based applications.
