AML Officer

About the role

The AML Officer will join the compliance team of Moneybase, part of Calamatta Cuschieri Moneybase plc, to help maintain a robust AML/CFT framework that meets Maltese and EU regulations. You will work closely with onboarding, operations and senior compliance leaders to identify and mitigate financial crime risks.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct KYC/CDD and Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for new and existing clients.
• Review and investigate transaction monitoring alerts, flagging unusual or suspicious activity.
• Perform PEP, sanctions and adverse media screening and assess potential matches.
• Escalate high‑risk cases to the MLRO/Head of AML and assist in preparing STR/SAR reports via goAML.
• Document investigations with a clear audit trail and support periodic client reviews.
• Contribute to the AML Compliance Monitoring Programme and remediation projects.
• Support regulatory inspections, audits and information requests.
• Stay updated on FIAU, MFSA and EU AML/CFT regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of AML/CFT experience, preferably in payments, banking, fintech or VASP environments.
• Strong knowledge of Maltese AML requirements, including the PMLFTR and FIAU implementing procedures.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality and attention to detail.
• Analytical and investigative mindset with solid decision‑making abilities.
