Accounts Payable Executive

About the role

Cross Border Talents is hiring an Accounts Payable Executive in Valletta, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. The role manages the Accounts Payable function, ensuring timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, supporting other accounting duties and preparing financial reports as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Verify supplier invoices against contracts and purchase orders and obtain payment authorisation before paying vendors.
• Review and approve invoice postings for accurate general ledger entries.
• Prepare and process payment batches on time and accurately.
• Review supplier contract terms and conditions and highlight their financial implications.
• Issue sales invoices and ensure prompt receipt of funds.
• Maintain Aged Payables and Aged Receivables reports, and reconcile Fixed and Intangible Assets Registers with the General Ledger.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Support external financial audits with required documentation and prepare financial reports.
• Suggest improvements to accounts payable processes and foster good relationships with other departments.

Required profile

• In progress towards an ACCA qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance role; experience in a regulated institution is an asset.
• Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines and make rational decisions under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail, quick learner and good problem-solving skills.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
• Understanding of VAT principles.
• Experience with general ledger functions and month-end closure.
• Proficiency in financial software and AP modules, and in Microsoft Excel.
