3rd Electro-Technical Officer

About the role

We are looking for a 3rd Electro‑Technical Officer to join the ship’s technical team. The officer will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical equipment across the engine room, hotel areas and bridge, reporting to the 1st Electro‑Technical Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems in the assigned area (engine room, hotel, bridge).
• Supervise and assign daily tasks to junior electrical fitters and monitor their work.
• Assist the 2nd Electro‑Technical Officer with safety‑critical systems such as main engines, fire detection, ESD, water treatment, elevators and UPS.
• Report any equipment damage or malfunction immediately to the 1st Electro‑Technical Officer.
• Coordinate with the Senior Technical Storekeeper to maintain adequate spare‑part stock.
• Document all maintenance actions and parts used in the InfoSHIP system, including test results.
• Collaborate with the Facility Manager to ensure timely completion of repair orders.
• Support the IT System Manager with cyber‑risk assessments, incident response and reporting to the Safety Security Officer.

Required profile

• Valid health and physical certification as required by the ship’s flag state.
• Strong supervisory abilities to manage workload and priorities.
• Ability to work on board a vessel and prioritize guest comfort.

Required skills

• Electrical systems troubleshooting and maintenance in a marine environment.
• Knowledge of main‑engine safety shutdown procedures.
• Experience with fire detection, emergency shutdown (ESD), water‑treatment and elevator safety systems.
• Familiarity with UPS, cabin automation and bridge electrical systems.
• Basic understanding of IT/OT cyber‑risk assessment and incident response.
• Proficiency in using InfoSHIP or similar maintenance documentation software.
