Senior Procedural Environment Artist - New IP

About the role

4A Games is looking for a Senior Procedural Environment Artist specializing in Houdini or similar procedural tools to join its team on a new IP project. The artist creates layouts and works with existing assets to fill the game world, builds procedural tools and puts together dynamic environments while following the production schedule and the chosen artistic vision.

Key responsibilities

• Work with artists, tech artists and game designers to build and implement systems that generate environments, effects and asset populations procedurally using tools such as Houdini and Geometry Nodes.
• Streamline workflows, improve efficiency and integrate procedural tools into the existing pipeline.
• Identify environment art issues proactively, propose solutions and document processes and tools.
• Support procedural content and staff training.
• Research, define, extend and maintain production pipelines, processes and workflows.
• Perform quick research for shapes and environments.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in game development and modelling.
• Strong sense of graphical shape, form and silhouette.
• Experience with large asset authoring and complex layouts.
• Ability to work creatively within a large or small group and good English communication skills.
• Technical or art education preferred.

Required skills

• Strong procedural creation software, with a preference for Houdini.
• Python or similar scripting tools.
• Engine tooling and automation, and knowledge of real-time rendering engines, resource limits and optimization.
• Knowledge of modern AAA pipelines.
• Preferred: Unreal or Unity, SpeedTree, ZBrush, Blender, shader and material graphs, tech art, open-world creation and a passion for games.
