Senior Concept Artist

About the role

4A Games is looking for a Senior Concept Artist to create high-quality realistic illustrations, sketches and designs of characters, creatures, environments, weapons and objects. The artist contributes to the visual direction of the game and works closely with the Art Director, 3D artists and game designers to meet technical and stylistic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Produce high-quality AAA concept art for characters, creatures, environments, weapons, props and key visual assets.
• Work with the Art Director to support and develop the game's visual direction and help keep a cohesive, unique visual style.
• Take part in planning the scope, priorities and delivery timelines for concept art.
• Collaborate with game design, narrative, 3D art, animation and VFX teams so concepts fit production needs.
• Review and give constructive feedback on the work of mid-level and junior artists.
• Make sure designs are clear, practical and ready for 3D production, and support visual development for gameplay, storytelling, worldbuilding, mood, lighting, composition and atmosphere.

Required profile

• 3+ years of professional experience in concept art.
• At least one shipped AAA or AA title, or equivalent production experience.
• Strong portfolio of realistic concept art for characters, creatures, environments, props and weapons.
• Deep understanding of human and creature anatomy and strong traditional art fundamentals.
• Experience mentoring artists and giving clear, constructive feedback.
• Good English and collaborative team player.

Required skills

• Proficiency with industry-standard concept art software.
• Understanding of the 3D asset creation pipeline and use of 3D tools in the workflow.
• Ability to interpret written and verbal direction into strong visual designs.
• Preferred: experience with engines such as Exodus SDK and Unreal Engine, and with concept art supporting VFX teams.
