Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a driven Senior Accountant to join a leading accounting firm in Malta. You will manage a diverse client portfolio, mentor junior staff, and ensure high‑quality financial deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for a varied client portfolio, handling requests promptly.
• Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior accountants.
• Plan, prioritize and deliver client assignments independently, meeting all statutory deadlines.
• Provide regular portfolio updates to management and contribute to team performance monitoring.
• Prepare audit files and coordinate with client auditors throughout the audit process.
• Manage monthly payroll processing and ensure accurate payroll execution.
• Prepare management accounts in line with applicable accounting standards.
• Support the presentation of management accounts to clients, offering clear insights.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and Recap Declarations on behalf of clients.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience in Malta in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing an Accounting qualification.
• Possession of an Accountancy Warrant in Malta, or a genuine interest in obtaining one.
• Familiarity with payroll processes (asset).
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency with standard office software and tools.
• Experience with accounting software (asset).
