Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) Site Lead

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Site Lead to join our pharmaceutical manufacturing team in Malta. You will develop, implement and oversee all SHE policies, ensuring full compliance with local legislation while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with Maltese health, safety and environmental legislation, including OHSA, ERA and ATEX directives.
• Act as the Competent Person under Maltese occupational health and safety law.
• Lead site SHE risk assessments, covering hazardous substances (REACH/CLP), ATEX zoning and other process safety risks.
• Drive the SHE strategy, overseeing programs, policies, training initiatives and audits.
• Promote a proactive safety culture by empowering employees to own SHE standards and report risks.
• Lead projects in sustainability, waste management, energy efficiency and emergency response planning.

Required profile

• MQF Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or related field.
• Diploma in Health and Safety recognised by OHSA Malta as a competent person.
• Proven experience in a SHE leadership role within pharmaceutical or manufacturing environments, preferably ATEX regulated.
• Certified auditor or demonstrable experience auditing ISO 45001, ISO 14001 or similar standards.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence safety culture across all levels.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Maltese OHSA regulations, ERA requirements and ATEX directives.
• Expertise in REACH compliance and CLP classification.
• Ability to conduct comprehensive SHE risk assessments.
• Experience auditing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
• Project management skills for sustainability, waste, energy and emergency response initiatives.
