Learning & Development Manager

About the role

The Learning & Development Manager acts as the gatekeeper for learning and host lifestyle on board, supporting the People Department and ensuring a high‑standard service culture across the ship.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate shipboard learning initiatives and coordinate position‑based training with departmental trainers.
• Deliver company trainings, using facilitator manuals and varied techniques to ensure knowledge transfer.
• Monitor attendance at learning functions, report non‑compliance and track frequency.
• Manage the Host Lifestyle program, schedule meetings, and oversee inventory and equipment loans.
• Conduct spot checks of host dining venues to ensure food standards and menu rotation.
• Support the People Director with communication of company initiatives, awards programs, and strategic objectives.
• Participate in required meetings, trainings and host activities as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Learning & Development Manager or People/HR Manager.
• Previous experience on international cruise ships.
• Extensive background in luxury/premium hospitality.
• Experience in start‑ups or pre‑openings is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and fluent English; additional European language advantageous.
• Valid passport, visas and required certificates for cruise operations.
