IT Systems Administrator

About the role

TOPPAN Security, the international development arm of the TOPPAN Group in security, is hiring an IT Systems Administrator in Iż-Żejtun. You will help maintain and support secure, reliable IT systems across data centres, customer sites and business environments, working with infrastructure, servers, domain services, databases, networks and applications. The role suits early-career systems administrators with some hands-on infrastructure experience, and also welcomes junior database administrators interested in broader infrastructure skills; advanced specialist expertise such as PKI is not required.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain and support servers, networks, operating systems, databases and third-party applications.
• Support Windows and/or Linux environments, including user access, permissions, domain controllers, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
• Perform routine database maintenance: monitoring, access administration, backup and restore support, health checks, patching and basic troubleshooting.
• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support, investigate incidents, handle service requests and escalate complex issues.
• Respond to infrastructure and application alerts, contribute to root cause analysis and prevent problems.
• Install, configure, patch and maintain hardware, software, virtual machines and infrastructure components.
• Support planned deployments and changes with testing, documentation, approval, tracking and back-out plans.
• Maintain and test backup, disaster recovery and failover procedures.
• Maintain technical documentation, asset records, operational reports and support procedures.
• Collaborate with internal teams, customers, suppliers and third parties to meet service levels, and use scripts and tools to automate routine tasks.
• Follow ITIL-aligned incident, event, problem and change management practices.

Required profile

• Some hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, database administration or enterprise technical support; junior candidates may be considered.
• Higher education in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Structured approach to troubleshooting, incident resolution, documentation and operational follow-up.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and technical specialists.
• Good written and spoken English, and ability to read technical documentation.
• Eligible to work in the EU and able to obtain the security clearance required for national-level operations; a valid passport and any required visas.
• Occasional international travel (up to about 30%) and possible on-call rotation may be required.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of domain controllers and Active Directory concepts.
• Database maintenance knowledge, which may come from a previous systems or database administrator role.
• Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Active Directory, user and access management, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Database operations and maintenance (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle or another relational platform).
• Basic networking (TCP/IP, LAN, VLAN, VPN, routing, firewalls).
• Backup, recovery, patching, monitoring, virtualization and system security awareness.
• Service-management or ticketing tool experience and incident/change management understanding.
• Relevant certifications, scripting knowledge, cloud exposure or PKI familiarity are an advantage but not mandatory.
