IFRS Specialist

About the role

EY Malta is seeking an experienced IFRS specialist to lead and grow its financial accounting advisory offering. This is a senior role for a technically strong accounting professional with extensive IFRS experience, acting as an IFRS leader within EY Malta. The successful candidate will support audit teams and clients on complex accounting issues, advise on significant transactions and drive thought leadership in the Maltese market, working directly with CFOs, boards, audit committees, regulators and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for IFRS and financial reporting advisory services.
• Provide technical advice on complex IFRS matters, accounting transactions, restructurings, acquisitions and capital market activities.
• Support audit teams on significant accounting judgements and financial reporting matters.
• Review technical accounting papers and financial statements.
• Monitor IFRS developments and advise clients on their implications.
• Deliver IFRS training and thought leadership to clients and EY professionals.
• Build market relationships and establish EY Malta as a leading provider of IFRS advisory services.
• Identify and lead business development opportunities in accounting advisory.

Required profile

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• 8-10+ years of relevant experience, including substantial IFRS technical advisory experience.
• Proven experience advising on complex accounting issues and business transactions.
• Experience working directly with senior finance leaders and boards.
• Excellent written and verbal English.
