Fraud Team Leader (German-speaking, EU passport)

About the role

Novumbank is looking for a Fraud Team Leader to manage the day-to-day work and strategic direction of its fraud prevention team. The role reports directly to the Senior Fraud Manager and links the analyst team with agents. The successful candidate will oversee the fraud rule lifecycle, mentor staff and shape the risk posture across all merchant brands. The position is based in Malta and requires fluency in German and an EU passport.

Key responsibilities

• Evolve and maintain the overall fraud prevention strategy, setting priorities and a long-term vision aligned with risk tolerance and revenue goals.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Fraud Customer Agents, manage resources, run performance reviews and mentor junior members.
• Handle and investigate customer complaints so they are resolved quickly, fairly and effectively.
• Act as main contact for Operations, Product, Legal and B2B merchants, communicating risk postures and policy changes.
• Prioritise infrastructure improvements and suggest enhancements for new tools such as machine learning models and BI reporting.
• Review customer calls for quality to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations and service standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising or leading a team in a fraud or risk environment.
• Ability to interpret complex data sets and turn them into actionable risk strategies.
• Strong ability to explain technical risk information to non-technical B2B stakeholders and executives.
• Native or near-native German and fluent English, with strong verbal and written communication.
• EU passport required.

Required skills

• Direct experience with the Fraud Management fraud tool is highly desired.
