Data Warehouse Modelling Engineer (Data Vault 2.0 + dbt)

About the role

Altenar is seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Modelling Engineer to design, build, and maintain enterprise‑grade data models using Data Vault 2.0 methodology within a modern ELT framework powered by dbt.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Data Vault 2.0 models (Raw Vault, Business Vault) including Hubs, Links, Satellites, PIT tables and Bridges.
• Develop and maintain dbt projects, leveraging macros, packages (e.g., datavault4dbt, AutomateDV), YAML configurations and Jinja templating.
• Build staging layers, raw vault loading patterns and business vault transformations following best practices.
• Ensure high data quality, auditability and historical tracking through proper hash key design and loading patterns.
• Collaborate with data architects, engineers and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable models.
• Optimize data models for performance and implement dbt testing, documentation and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in Data Vault 2.0 modelling on large‑scale enterprise projects.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with modern data warehouses (Trino preferred, ClickHouse a plus).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a focus on scalability and maintainability.

Required skills

• Data Vault 2.0 components: Hubs, Links, Satellites, PIT tables, Bridges.
• dbt (Core or Cloud) – models, macros, tests, documentation, exposures.
• Data Vault automation packages such as datavault4dbt or AutomateDV.
• ELT/ETL patterns, multi‑source integration and handling of changing business keys.
• Git, CI/CD for data (e.g., dbt Cloud jobs, GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with Trino, ClickHouse, and optional Python scripting for custom dbt macros.
