General Manager – Hospitality Academy

About the role

The General Manager will lead the creation, launch and long‑term growth of a dedicated Academy for a leading hospitality group. Reporting to the Chief Corporate Development Officer, the role involves shaping strategy, securing accreditations and building a profitable learning business that serves internal and external clients.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Academy’s long‑term strategy, business plan and governance model.
• Design structured learning pathways, competency frameworks and leadership development programmes aligned with the group’s service culture.
• Secure national and international accreditations and maintain high quality‑assurance standards.
• Drive commercial sustainability through training, consultancy, coaching and certification services for external clients and franchise partners.
• Lead digital learning initiatives, including implementation and management of the Academy’s learning management system and digital resource library.
• Recruit, develop and manage the internal Academy team as well as external trainers, consultants and subject‑matter experts.
• Oversee financial budgets, KPIs and pricing structures to ensure profitability.
• Build strategic partnerships with universities, accreditation bodies and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Preferably holds a degree in Hospitality Management, Learning & Development, Human Resources, Business Management, Education or a related field.
• Significant progressive L&D leadership experience within the hospitality industry, ideally in an international hotel group or luxury environment.
• Proven expertise in designing learning strategies, competency frameworks, career pathways and LMS/digital learning platforms for multi‑property or global operations.
• Strong commercial acumen and financial management skills.
• Experience with program accreditation, business development or building a corporate university from scratch is highly advantageous.
