Senior Manager – Collections & Recoveries (EU Passport required)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Manager to lead Collections & Recoveries for our European bank based in Malta. The role demands a strategic mindset, deep knowledge of lending or credit‑card products, and the ability to keep the portfolio healthy and profitable.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve collections strategies in line with the bank’s business goals and risk appetite.
• Lead, mentor and grow a high‑performing team of collections professionals.
• Monitor delinquency, credit loss and recovery metrics, identifying trends and taking proactive risk‑mitigation actions.
• Use data analytics to spot patterns, assess portfolio performance and optimise collection efforts.
• Design segmentation and prioritisation models for different customer risk profiles.
• Enhance processes, workflows and tools while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with credit risk, legal, compliance and customer service teams.
• Manage relationships with external collection agencies and service providers.
• Report regularly to senior management on performance and initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of e‑commerce collection management experience within financial services.
• Strong understanding of the German financial services market is a plus.
• Proven leadership ability to inspire and develop high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Commercially minded with solid negotiation capabilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Fluent English; German language proficiency is a bonus.
