Payments Processing Officer – Malta (Full/Part Time)

About the role

Novumbank is seeking a Payments Processing Officer to join its Operations team in Malta. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will handle day‑to‑day payment flows and collaborate with multiple internal departments, gaining exposure to industry‑standard payment schemes and core banking products.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and process daily outgoing and incoming payments (manual, single, batch, urgent) via SEPA, SWIFT, Target2 and third‑party providers.
• Ensure payments meet internal/external rules, cut‑off times and product requirements.
• Liaise with front‑office teams (cards, lending, corporate, retail deposits) on payment‑related issues.
• Communicate with correspondent banks and payment service providers to resolve day‑to‑day queries.
• Provide daily reporting to support reconciliation and assess invoices/settlements from partners.
• Support prepaid cards, credit cards, retail deposits and corporate back‑office operations as needed.
• Maintain and improve operational procedures and contribute ideas for process optimisation.

Required profile

• Ordinary/Advanced level qualifications or equivalent.
• Experience in a similar operational role within a financial services institution.
• Strong proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Excellent communication, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
